Friends Really Do Uplift the Soul

There’s something about a playful card that instantly makes me smile —

and this little seesaw duo absolutely understood the assignment. This card was created as part of the PolkaDoodles Design Team, and honestly, these adorable digital images make it dangerously easy to fall down the “just one more card” rabbit hole.

One of my favorite things about working with digital stamps is the freedom they give you. Resize them? Absolutely. Print them again because you accidentally smudged one with inky fingers? Also absolutely. No searching for the perfect stamp placement or worrying about lining things up just right. Digital images let you focus on the fun part — creating.

For this card, I leaned into warm sunny yellows and oranges to keep everything cheerful and uplifting. The zigzag layers add movement and energy, while the playful critters stealing the spotlight were colored with Copic markers. Copic coloring is one of those magical little escapes where blending shadows and adding tiny highlights suddenly makes paper characters feel full of personality. Before you know it, you’re emotionally invested in a cartoon cat on a seesaw.

The added texture and scattered embellishments bring everything together without overpowering the focal image. Sometimes cards don’t need to be elegant or serious — sometimes they just need to make someone grin the second they open the envelope.

And honestly? Who doesn’t need a reason to smile?
