Creating A Fun Card

Small Girls, Big Attitude…

Big Lashes!!

This card was inspired by my teen age grand daughter and her spunky little attitude and maybe a touch of those big eyelashes! She definitely doesn’t fall short of her grandmother in the sarcasm department and it plays a fundamental part of who she is and who she is becoming. A touch of sarcasm paired with other amazing qualities forms a great personality.

While I don’t have the overly animated eyelashes, I am an 80’s girl which means coffee, mascara and a touch of sarcasm were by best friends and still remain so.

When I saw these adorable little sketchy images and the perfectly paired sentiments I knew I just had to use them to create some “whatever” type cards and let my grand daughter’s attitude channel through into my creative process.

The images I used can be purchased below. So have a look at those and remember we are creating on a budget which means we are using digital images, paper and sentiments. + No Shipping costs and reducing the carbon footprint!!

For this card I have chosen the Sulky Rebel Girl illustration. That stubborn little pout was just irresistible. I had originally chosen to use to the “whatever” sentiment, however this “ I’ve chosen to cancel my subscription to your issues” just humored me and so here we are.

The paper just happened to be laying about in my messy workspace - and I mean very messy. Some organizing is definitely required, like yesterday. Does anyone else have that issue? Anywho the paper was a digital paper that was for an intended project last week and then I ended up using something else for that particular card. Since I had planned to use pinks for Copic Colors this paper was going to work great.

Now, the layout is nothing amazing, it was late last night and I just wanted to do a bit of a test with the image, however the card ended up not looking to bad so I decided to photograph it and share.

This layout requires;

  • 4 1/4 x 11 card base, scored @5 1/2

  • 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 layer of pattern paper

  • the printed image was cut down to approx. 2 1/2 x 5 1/2

I used another strip of 3/4 x 5 1/2 of the same pattern paper to run along the edge on the inside of the card for a little added interest inside the card. I have yet to decide on an inside sentiment - so if you have any suggestions, leave them below in the comments!

I have a few more of these Rebel Girl images that I can’t wait to create with so check for more glimmers of attitude.

If you decide to give any of the Polka Doodles images a try on your next card be sure to let me know in the comments below what you chose, or how that went for you. Any questions? Same- drop them in the comments below.
