A Hauntingly Simple Halloween Card

Nothing says Halloween like a purple sky, a little shimmer, and a few cheeky ghosts floating by.

There’s a little extra magic in today’s card photo—and not just because of the friendly ghosts floating across it. If you look closely, you’ll spot a vintage pocket watch in the background, just about to strike midnight. That watch belonged to my late father, and it makes me proud to give it a place in my studio as a photo prop. A tiny piece of him now sneaks into my creative projects, which feels just right for Halloween. 🕛👻

Now, onto the card itself!

This one is all about simple, spooky fun—the kind of card you can make without overthinking (though coffee certainly helps the process along). I started with a purple ink-blended background, adding a generous amount of splatters in black and white for that starry-night-meets-Halloween vibe. The stars of the show are those adorable ghost die cuts from Scrapbook.com—cut from shimmer paper so they practically glow against the background.

Once the background was dry and the little ghosts had been glued into place, I finished it off with a clean and simple sentiment strip: Happy Halloween. Easy, done, and ready to spook (in the friendliest way possible).

So if you’re looking for a quick and fun Halloween card idea, this one is proof that a little ink blending, some shimmer paper, and a few ghostly die cuts can go a long way—no tricks, just treats.

Turns out you don’t need a cauldron or spell book—just ink, shimmer paper, and coffee (always coffee!
