50 & Fabulous, A Birthday Card with Humor
—this card is perfectly cheeky (literally 😅).
Some say turning 50 is all about grace and wisdom… I say it’s about rocking purple boots while your skirt is tucked in your knickers and still owning it.
Well friends, they say age is just a number, but when that number is 50… it deserves a little extra sparkle, sass, and maybe a strong cup of coffee (or three). After all, by now you’ve earned the right to laugh at life’s little mishaps—like, say, accidentally tucking your skirt into your underwear after leaving the ladies’ room. Yep, our birthday girl is strutting her stuff, shopping bags in hand, blissfully unaware that she’s giving the world a little more “fabulous” than intended.
This card captures that cheeky spirit perfectly. I went with bold pinks, playful layers, and of course, our leading lady who is rocking her boots, her scarf, and her unapologetic attitude. The sentiment says it all: This is what 50 and fabulous looks like! Because let’s be real—fabulous at 50 isn’t about perfection. It’s about confidence, a sense of humor, and knowing that if your skirt does get caught in your underwear, you’ll just laugh, keep walking, and maybe grab a celebratory cupcake on the way.
Turning 50 isn’t about slowing down—it’s about owning every moment, the glamorous ones and the slightly embarrassing ones, too. Because if you can’t laugh at yourself at 50, when can you?
Card Actuality: (the “bare” facts about this card)
Birthday was our Design Team theme this week for Polkadoodles, and I decided to stray away from the traditional cute little animals and go with some hard core reality using an image from The Old Bags collection. This “Embarrassing Moment” pairs up perfectly with sentiments from the collection. The background features a “rip & tear” technique with pattern papers from Painting & Decorating Bundle combined with a little gold splatter, an embossing folder and a pretty bow.
Let’s face it: at 50, you don’t just sparkle—you sparkle with a sense of humor (and maybe a wardrobe malfunction or two).
