The Evolution of The Paper Artist
How one creative idea quietly led to another.
If someone had told me a couple of years ago that my craft room would one day be overflowing with colorful beads, I probably would have laughed.
Mostly because I would have been wondering who made such a mess.
Back then, my world revolved around paper.
Cardstock.
Patterned paper.
Stamps.
Dies.
Ink.
And enough Copic markers to make me believe I could color absolutely anything.
I've learned over the years that creativity has a funny way of refusing to stay in one lane.
Paper wasn't just my hobby—it became part of who I was. Every card I created was another opportunity to learn a new technique, try a different fold, or simply spend a quiet afternoon doing something I loved.
I honestly thought that's where my creative journey would stay.
Then creativity did what creativity always seems to do.
It whispered...
"What if we tried something else?"
It started with paper.
Paper inspired handmade cards.
Those cards inspired handmade notebooks.
The notebooks needed little coordinating charms.
Those tiny charms became keychain danglers.
Then one afternoon I looked at a bowl of colourful beads sitting on my work table and found myself asking a simple question.
"I wonder what else I can make?"
That tiny question opened a door I never expected.
Suddenly those same beads weren't just becoming notebook charms anymore. They were becoming bag charms, keychain danglers & bracelets, colorful little accessories that were every bit as enjoyable to create as the cards I'd been making for years.
Looking back, it all feels so obvious.
None of these projects replaced the one before them.
Each one simply grew from the last.
Cards taught me about colour.
Notebooks taught me about combining beauty with practicality.
Keychain danglers taught me how much people love carrying a little piece of handmade happiness with them every day.
Bracelets reminded me that creativity doesn't always arrive with a grand plan.
Sometimes it simply begins with curiosity.
One question.
One idea.
One afternoon of wondering, "What happens if I try this?"
The funny thing is, although my craft room looks a little different these days, the heart behind everything I create hasn't changed.
Whether I'm colouring a digital image with Copic markers, designing a greeting card, creating a notebook, stringing beads onto elastic cord, or finishing a new keychain dangler, I'm still chasing the very same feeling.
The joy of making something with my own two hands.
The hope that something I've created might brighten someone else's day.
And maybe inspire them to make something, too.
So no...
I haven't stopped making cards.
You'll still find plenty of paper crafting here.
You'll also discover colourful bracelets, whimsical keychain danglers, handmade notebooks, and probably a few surprises along the way.
Because if this journey has taught me anything, it's that creativity doesn't like standing still.
It grows.
It wanders.
It quietly nudges us toward new ideas when we least expect them.
And I've learned that the best thing I can do is simply follow where it leads.
So thank you for being here.
Whether you've been following along since the days when my desk was covered in paper scraps, or you've just discovered The Paper Artist, I'm so glad you're here for this next chapter.
I have no idea where this creative journey will take us next.
But I have a feeling it's going to be fun.
And if history has taught me anything...
I'll probably need another cup of coffee first.
