Spotlight: Thank You Card

Sometimes a card surprises you… and this one definitely surprised me.

First of all — it’s pink.

And if you know me, you know pink is not usually my go-to. But every now and then I like to live dangerously, step outside my comfort zone, and apparently dive headfirst into a sea of soft, sweet pink. And you know what? I absolutely love how this one turned out.

This card plays with the spotlight technique, which is one of my favorite ways to draw attention without adding a lot of bulk. By embossing the full background with a heart-filled embossing folder, I created texture across the entire card. Then, I added a circular “spotlight” panel — also embossed — but blended with warm yellow and coral tones. The layered hearts inside the spotlight help pull your eye right to the focal point, creating contrast while still keeping everything cohesive. It’s simple, but it works every time.

One of the things I really like about this design is that it proves hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day. Once February is over, it feels like hearts get packed away with the chocolate boxes — but they’re perfect for thank you cards, thinking-of-you cards, or just-because moments. Hearts are universal, and paired with a soft color palette like this, they feel sweet without being overly “Valentine-y.” 💕

The finishing touches — a bold “thank you” sentiment and a few sparkly embellishments — keep everything grounded and give the card just enough personality. And despite my ongoing “pink hesitation,” I have to admit… this card might be slowly converting me. Don’t worry though — I’m not ready to fully commit. Let’s just say we’re casually seeing each other.
