Shake, Rattle & Boo! A Spook-tacular Pumpkin Shaker Card

This pumpkin-shaped shaker card is all treat, no trick!

Halloween crafting is in full swing over here, which basically means my desk is covered in orange paper, glitter, and enough sequins to make a disco ball jealous.

This jack o’ lantern shaker card might just be my new favorite—he’s cheeky, a little mischievous, and rattles around like he’s had too much candy corn. Perfect for sending to friends, stashing in your Halloween card pile, or just shaking it at your craft table when you need a laugh.

A little card actuality: (how I made the card)

Actual first step: cutting the leaves from the images. I’ll use these later in the project.

I started by cutting the pumpkin image from Polkadoodles Ghastly Ghost design directly into a folded card base using my Cricut cutting machine. As well as a cut out of the just the pumpkin shape in the same size. (So with no cut outs for the face)

I printed a non colored version of the image in the same size to be used for the card front. Then I used inks in shades of yellow and orange along with Polkadoodles Blending Brushes to create beautiful colors on the pumpkin and the leaves.

I created a background panel (from the extra shape) of more ink blending in yellow shades, then applied a mica spray to the background to create a shimmery eerie vibe!

Acetate sheet was glued to the back of the cut-out face (the orange blended piece) to create the shaker window. After trimming the acetate to the same pumpkin shape, I then applied a double layer of 1/4 inch foam tape to the outside edges of the acetate (still working on the backside of the image).

With the background layer (the yellow shaded section with the shimmer spray) laid flat on my desktop. I added a sprinkle of bats, and a dash of Halloween sparkle as well as a few tiny orange beads. The beads create weight in the shaker to really make it shake nicely.

** This is where I glued down a tiny bat embellishment or 2 ( so that something appears in the window when the card isn’t presently being shaken).

Once I had a nice amount of shaker fun arranged on the panel I peeled the backer from the foam tape, added some liquid glue to the tape and carefully placed it over background panel- lining up the shape and pressing down to seal the window frame in place.

When the glue from the shaker window frame was dry I adhered the whole shaker window to the card base - the folded pumpkin shape.

With a few shades of green Copic Markers (or any markers really), I colored the leaves that were cut from the project as the very first step. I glued them into the desired positions on my finished card.

Lastly I added a few additional bat sequins to the front of the shaker card.

The inside of the card reads “Batty for Candy” - a sentiment from the same bundle.

And that’s a wrap on my little pumpkin shaker! 🎃 Honestly, I think he’s just as entertaining to shake as he is to make.

If you’re in the mood for a crafty scare (the good kind), pull out your Cricut, some sequins, and a little Halloween spirit—you’ll have a jack o’ lantern ready to grin back at you in no time.

Until then, I’ll be over here wondering if it’s socially acceptable to eat mini chocolate bars before October eve starts.
