Life is Better in Flip Flops

- It truly is. Flip Flops remind me of the beach and so does this flip floppy card.

This Card was Created for Polkadoodles crafts.

The card opens and flips into an easel type card for display, while the sentiment Starfish/Sandcastle Quotes and a sparkly pair of flip flops hold the card in place. Featuring a beachy image from Polkadoodles - Building Sandcastles. With a backdrop of ocean themed pattern paper from Winnie Sandcastle Pattern Paper pack 9

The sandcastle, pail, shovel and umbrella (Winnie Starfish Embellishments) were added with extra dimension to create playful fun for this vacation card. I finished the card off with glossy accents on Winnie’s sunglasses, some actual sand sprinkled on the beach, and a layer of glitter pen for the umbrella shining in the sun. Vacation mode set!!

Supplies used to create this fun in the sun flip flopping card (other than the image and pattern paper digital files from above):

Sun shaped circle cut from Yellow Cardstock @ 5.75 using Cricut or other cutting machine.

5 inch blue cardstock circles cut using Cricut machine.

Using Cricut Design Space - add 2 -5 inch circles to the grid. Place 2 outer edges just close enough to each other so that they are touching, so as to join the 2 circles just ever so slightly. Select both shapes and weld. Then continue to cut the shape which will create the circle cardbase.

Once cut using the same blue cardstock, fold in half to create the card base. Score with bone folder to make a nice clean crease. With the circle that is the front of the card base fold it in half and crease with a bone folder.

4 3/4 inch circle of the pattern paper.

4 inch circle of pattern paper (for the inside).

To Build the Card: (assuming you have already printed the images from above)

Adhere a blue cardstock circle centered in the middle of the yellow sun layer.

Trim the Building Sandcastles image to fit within the largest pattern paper layer and adhere to the pattern paper layer with foam tape to create dimension.

Add this layer to the center of the blue cardstock layer.

Using liquid glue, adhere only the bottom section of the card front layer to the bottom section of the front folded circle section of the card base.

Adhere the smaller section of pattern paper to the inside of the card base.

Trim out the printed greeting into a rectangle shape, add foam tape and place just a little lower than the middle on the card inside. This will act as a stopper to hold the card front in place like an easel.

Add a printed flip flop image to the corner of the greeting and one onto the pattern paper beside the first.

Final Details:

Using the pail, shovel, and sandcastle from the printed files above - add foam tape to the back and adhere above the sandcastle on the card front image. Add the additional pail & shovel in the same way sort of in front of the chair.

Add liquid glue to the sand areas including the sandcastle and sprinkle with a fake crafting sand, or glitter than resembles sand. This is a super fun touch on the card!

Be sure to print the umbrella large enough to span over the top section of the card (as in the picture) cut the stand off and tuck in behind Winnie. Add some Wink of Stella (glitter pen) the umbrella to make it all shimmery. Using a bone folder, curl each of the ends of the umbrella back add foam tape to each of the sides of the umbrella underneath, and in the section that will sit above Winnie’s head - double up the foam tape. This will all create an arched umbrella look that spans above her head.

Fill the lenses of the sunglasses with Glossy Accents for a true sunglass look.

Add a few sparkly gems to the card for a little added interest - as if it needs any at this point!

And that’s it… A Super Cute, Flip Floppin’ Vacation themed card to send summer vibes to someone who could use a holiday - if in no other way via a paper thought!

I hope you enjoy creating this beachy card filled with sunshine, sand and “Ahhh Flip Flops”!!
