Creating a Valentine Card using a Word Die…

This adorable card features a lovely 3D sentiment cut using a word die. That’s right the focal point is not the bunny, no matter how cute and adorable he may be. The bunny is simply a supporting actor on this card front.

The card actually words up quite quickly and easily. Well… being that you are able to decide on your pattern papers and color scheme a bit quicker than I did…

I had a nice array of Valentine themed pattern paper before me, however do think I could fix on a color scheme?

No, No I could not. I had purple and pink, purple and yellow, as well as a version of just red. None of them seemed to be quite what I was hoping for in this card front. Finally I was able to nail down the decision of the pink and red combo, and I think it turned out quite cute.

That being said I now have several Love words cut in many different patterns and color schemes. Also a few extra bunnies in different color combinations. That’s ok, they’ll work themselves into a starring role on another card front down the road in the crafting studio. So just let it be said that “booboo’s = premade card pieces for another time”.

After all of this fuss I was quite happy with the final product.

One of the things I love the most about this word die cut is that even though it reads “LOVE” it is so versatile for many other cards. It doesn’t have to be for a Valentine card.

When the die was first sent to me I thought “ I’ll just toss this aside until it’s time to create Valentine cards”, however I have since working with it discovered it has so many more possibilities. It’s great for a wedding card, or an anniversary. Or sending love in a friendship card, or to a grandchild on their birthday. In fact the first card I used it with had a cow sharing the stage with the die cut in black and a vibrant green. Changing the color scheme of the die cuts really changes the direction of the card. And of course if you change up that supporting actor ( the focal image) the possibilities are endless, leaving you with so many choices to showcase this die cut sentiment.

All in all Love doesn’t just have to be about Valentine’s Day. HOW TO CREATE THIS CARD
