Drinks Are on Me! A Fun Summer Gift Card Holder Card
There is something about bright summer colors, fruity drinks, and cheerful florals that instantly puts a smile on my face. This playful birthday card was created as part of the Polkadoodles Crafts Design Team, and it combines all of those happy summer vibes into one interactive design that is perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or simply treating someone special.
One of my favourite things about creating with digital collections is how effortlessly everything coordinates. For this project, I used the Winnie Fruit Punch Collection from Polkadoodles, and every element worked together beautifully. The papers, embellishments, and sentiments are already perfectly matched, making it easy to create a polished card without having to reach for my Copic markers this time!
The front of the card features the cheerful sentiment "Drinks Are On Me", surrounded by layered die-cut circles decorated with colorful flowers and fun summer drink embellishments from the Winnie Fruit Punch Embellies Pack. The bright colors and playful images create the perfect invitation to celebrate.
What makes this card even more special is the interactive design inside. The patterned paper insert pulls out to reveal the birthday greeting, while a hidden pocket holds a gift card—perfect for treating someone to their favourite coffee, smoothie, ice cream, or summer drink. It's a thoughtful way to combine a handmade card with a practical gift, all tucked neatly into one design.
The card base measures 5½" x 8½", scored at 4¼". After cutting the front panel diagonally, I adhered the lower section to the back of the card to create the unique pocket-style opening. I then cut a coordinating piece of patterned paper to 4" x 11", scoring it at 5¼" to create the pull-out insert. The remaining patterned paper was the perfect size for creating the inside pocket to securely hold a gift card.
I love projects like this because they're quick to assemble, require very little colouring, and make wonderful last-minute gifts that still feel thoughtful and handmade. Sometimes all you need is beautiful coordinating digital papers and embellishments to create something that looks like you spent hours crafting.
Because sometimes the best gift is simply saying... "Drinks are on me!"
I'd love to hear from you!
