Cute, Quick & Dangling: Let’s Make a Kitty Keychain
Apparently my blog has been spending a little too much time buried in beads and bracelets lately, because it occurred to me that we are seriously lacking in keychain dangling around here.
Clearly, this needed to be corrected immediately.
So today we’re making this ridiculously cute little kitty keychain dangler — and even better, I actually turned the camera on and made a video showing you how I put it together.
Yes. There is video evidence.
A Few Beads, a Cute Kitty & Some Questionable Amazon Browsing
Like so many things that mysteriously appear in my craft room, the supplies for this little dangler are a compilation of fun Amazon finds.
The main beads are silicone beads in soft pink, charcoal grey and white, with that adorable little kitty sitting right in the middle looking far more innocent than anyone surrounded by this many beads has a right to look.
I added a fluffy grey pom-pom bead, a sparkly pink faceted bead and a few rhinestone spacers because apparently I am physically incapable of leaving well enough alone.
Then there’s the little side dangler.
A few coordinating beads, a tiny pink tassel and suddenly our keychain has a dangler on its dangler.
This is how craft supplies multiply, people.
Where possible, I’ll link the beads, findings and supplies I used so you can track down your favourites — or disappear into the Amazon bead abyss and emerge three hours later wondering why there are 47 things in your cart.

I decided this one was perfect for a quick instructional video because these really are surprisingly simple to put together once you know the basic method.
I’ll show you how I assemble mine from beginning to end, including adding the beads, securing everything and attaching that cute little charm dangler.

Absolutely no idea. 😂
It’s simply the method that works for me.
There are probably seventeen other ways to construct one of these, and somewhere on the internet someone is undoubtedly doing it with a specialized tool I don’t own.
But my method gives me a strong, sturdy finished keychain, uses only a few basic tools and supplies, and most importantly…
The kitty stays attached.
I consider that a win.
Keys, Purses…and Backpacks!
Of course these little danglers are adorable attached to your keys, but I also love clipping them onto purses and tote bags for a little extra colour and personality.
And since it is August — which means the words Back to School are slowly creeping into every corner of our lives — can we talk about how cute this little kitty would be clipped onto a backpack?
Seriously.
A backpack.
A lunch bag.
A pencil case with a loop.
It would also be a fun little project to customize in school colours or a kiddo’s favourite colours. Swap out the kitty for another focal bead, change the tassel, add their name…the possibilities start getting dangerous rather quickly.
One minute you're making one kitty keychain.
The next minute you're sitting in front of 200 silicone beads whispering, but this backpack definitely needs a frog.

Quick, Easy & Dangerously Addictive
That’s probably my favourite thing about making these danglers. They look like there’s a lot going on, but they’re actually quick and easy to create.
A handful of beads.
A few findings.
Some basic tools.
And suddenly you have an adorable little accessory ready to clip onto just about anything that stands still long enough.
So grab a coffee, dig through your bead stash and come make one with me.
