Happy Birthday To Me!!
Happy Birthday To Me!!
First and foremost, I want to thank Simon Says Stamp for sending me this lovely Festive Balloons Stamp & Die Set to me as a birthday gift!
How truly special it was to find this in my mail box on the morning of my birthday.
So not only was this set a wonderful birthday present - it was a complete bonus that it has such a cute image to work with, several really cute sentiments, as well as a die to cut the image out.
Festive Balloons Stamp & Die set was top quality - stamped clear and precise with a nice clean cut. I love it!
This is the first card I created with this set, as I struggle along finding my creativity while processing the grieve that came with the loss of my mother. So the card is relatively basic, yet still turned out beautiful!
For those of you who don’t know my mother became ill on my birthday and passed away 5 days later on her birthday - so my creative intention at that time totally revolved around birthdays, though I didn’t actually create this card until yesterday.
All in all, this turned into a rather cute card that I would be happy to give to anyone with a reason to celebrate!
I stamped and colored the image with Copic Markers, added a few highlights with a white gel pen and a little sparkle to the balloons with a Zig glitter pen. I cut the image using the die cut and then cut a 2nd piece from just white cardstock and adhered to the back of the image to be sure the image was nice and sturdy since I planned to pop it up on the card front using foam tape.
I cut a piece of white cardstock at 4 x 5 1/4, added a splatter with each of the colors that I had used to color the balloons in hopes to achieve a big confetti bomb look. I wanted lots of splatter and that’s what I got!
After allowing the splatter layer to dry I used my stamp positioner tool to stamp the sentiment. I stamped it a few times so I had a nice dark impression. I used a corner round to cut 2 opposing edges of this layer just for added interest.
I backed the splatter layer onto a layer of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and adhered to my card base that was cut at 4 1/2 x 11, Scored @ 5 1/2.
Using foam tape I added the balloon image to the card front.
On the card inside I used the “Happy Birthday” sentiment and added some pretty pink splatter. This is a technique I use a lot to dress up the inside of a card. Just to give it a little added something on the inside.
I finished off with a few crystal rhinestones from my stash and placed them randomly on the card front.
