Hidden Paperclip/Bookmark

Featuring Rebel Girls with Attitude -Just in time for Back to School!

Everyone needs a bookmark, or a paperclip! Or do they?

Do kids even use books anymore? Is everything now digital? Are we using tablets and computers for all forms of learning or do paper and books still exist?

As someone who really loves books, paper and pages… I surely hope so!

For everyone who still loves the sound of a turning page and appreciates the joy in a well loved bookmark - here’s a project for you!

This fun loving Rebel girl and her attitude clips right onto your book page. No bookmarks falling out of the pages or flying about while your book patiently waits for it’s most avid reader to return.

Clips right onto a page or multiple pages. No paperclip in sight!

The view from the back…

Magic! No paperclip visible from the backside either.

For this Back to School project, I chose to create a Hidden Bookmark/Paperclip featuring this Rebel Bookworm Girl full of Attitude. After printing & coloring the image I cut her from the rocks she was sitting on and used foam tape to place her on this stack of books from Winnie Fruit Punch Bundle. I created the background (front and back) with printable paper from Rebel Papers, and added the perfect sentiment to approach the school year with “Attitude is Everything”.

After printing this image, I simply trimmed the Rebel Girl out from the rock she was sitting on and added her to the stack of books found in the Winnie Fruit Punch Bundle.

So let’s get into the rest of this bookmark project!

From the selected pattern papers I cut a piece from the purple shaded piece 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.

I cut a 2nd piece of the striped paper using the same measurement.

I applied glue to the backside of each paper and glued them together to form a sturdy base for my bookmark.

After trimming out the Rebel Girl and the stacked book image, I colored them with Copic Markers.

I glued the books to the bottom section of the bookmark, then using a thin foam tape to create just a bit of dimension I placed the Rebel girl to appear she was sitting atop the stack of books.

Lastly I added a few gems and some highlights with a white gel pen to the images.

Bookmark complete!

Now let’s move in to the Invisible Paper Clip!

This invisible paperclip can be used for this bookmark project or as a simple hidden paperclip to bind papers, in your journal books, or junk journals. It can be decorated in many different ways. So you can definitely expand on this project or leave it simple.

Start with a piece of pattern paper cut at 2 1/4 x 8 inches.

Fold about half inch of the pattern paper over, and attach the long side of 2 large paperclips.

Fold the paper up and over the paper clips.

Over the other side of the paper clips.

Tuck the remaining paper up and under the short side of the paper clips.

This will just hold in place, however if you wish to add some adhesive be sure that the opening for the pages or paper isn’t glued closed.

Hopefully the picture guide below makes it all make sense! It really is quick & easy!

After completing the steps for the invisible paperclip above, simply glue it to the back of your bookmark. Enjoy!

I hope you have fun with project and use it to mark the pages in your favorite reads!
