These festive puppies sure know how to send out a warm & cozy holiday greeting!
This card was created using Whimsy Stamps - Pups for Christmas stamp set.
These fun little pups are just so adorable - I'm going to have to try this card again in a horizontal version ...
To create this card, I first stamped the fireplace in the desired placement on a layer of white cardstock. I colored the fireplace stones and the fire and covered with a mask that I created out of sticky note paper.
Using a fine liner marker I drew in where the floor would meet the wall,
as well as some lines to indicate the floor boards. I then used markers to
create a hardwood floor effect.
Using a darker yellow marker I dotted in a pattern on what would be the wall to start creating somewhat of a wallpaper look. Using a mid tone yellow I shaded around the fireplace to create a faint shadow. I then used 2 lighter yellows to haphazardly color in the rest of the wall space. I then removed the mask
to reveal an empty room.
I stamped the desired images from the stamp set onto scraps of white
cardstock, colored and fussy cut them.
This led to the fun part... decorating the fireplace, the mantel, and the pups with their fun Christmas hat and antlers! Then putting the puppies in place.
You can bet more than a dash of Wink of Stella brushed many of the Christmas decor items, and a yellow rhinestone for the center of the star on the tiny
tree on the fireplace mantle.
The puppies, stockings and garland were popped up with foam dots.
I also added a few dots with a white gel pen to the stockings to give
them a bit of added interest.
Super fun card to create!
And... I really like the horizontal version.
In this version not only did I switch up the orientation of the card, I also changed the color of those adorable puppies since they seemed to be a bit lost in the floor of the scene. Comparing both of the cards the pups have now become the focal point of the card as they were intended.
What else is different about the 2 cards?
There are a few differences, let's see if you can spot them.
