Oh What Fun! ~ Creating a winter card with fun images at a fun price!

Snow!! Is everyone ready for snow? Does your region get snow?
I'm curious!
In Northern Ontario, Thanksgiving brought with it a blanket of snow.
I am south of that, so we saw plenty of rain. If that rain had come in the form of snow we'd be ready for sledding just like this cute little bear on the card front above.

The sentiment reads "Oh what fun" from the Lawn Fawn - "Oh What Fun" stamp set allowing a chill adventure amidst the snowy hills and trees created with the Lawn Fawn - Over The Mountain Borders stamp set.

The little reindeer is part of the Over the Mountain Borders stamp set which features the hills, trees, mountains, the reindeer and a smaller version of this sled.
( see that stamp set below )
The Oh What Fun Stamp set is a Lawn Fawn mini set ( also pictured below) which included the bear in the sled, 2 sentiments and the 2 snowflakes, which I used in the background along with the Lawn Fawn Snow Flurries Background stencil.

The background and hills have added sparkle from a glitter pen, and Spellbinders Prism Gems.

So lets talk about the card for a minute... though you can't really see it in the picture unless you are looking for it - the bottom section of hills is actually popped up with foam tape so that the bear in the sled becomes the focal point of the card and everything else is just background.
To do this I used one of the strip stamps from the set with a hill and trees on it on a scrap of white paper that was 5 1/4 wide. Then I fussy cut the around the tree line, giving me a section that would fit across the bottom of the card front.

The background was stamped with the hills and tree lines, the images were colored. I used a very light colored freesia ink with a blending brush and
the Snow Flurries stencil and really only applied ink to the places on the background where I wanted some falling snow. I stamped a few tiny
snowflakes in Salvaged Patina Ink randomly over the background.

I added foam tape to that bottom section of hills that I had fussy cut
and attached to the bottom of the card.
I also stamped 2 extra trees and popped them up over 2 of the other
trees on the card for some added interest.
I adhered the bear in the sled to the card front.
Added Wink of Stella to the hills, trees and snowflakes.
Then randomly added some of the Prism gems for the final sparkle and
 shine to this card.

Overall, most of the items used to create this card were a fairly cheap purchase.
The most expensive item was the border stamp set, however I figure that set is going to get used on many cards in the future so well worth the price.

The bear in the sled was a mini set, which tells me that there are likely many other mini sets that could be used with this same card, or many other cards - why I love the little mini sets from Lawn Fawn!!

So here are just 2 mini examples that could also be used with the above card or the Lawn Fawn Over the Mountain Stamp set. And of course now that I have looked them up for you... I want them! Hey.. they are just a little over 3 bucks, so they are a great addition to any winter stamping collection!

And the full sets of adorable Lawn Fawn character sets for I think like 15 bucks,
I saw so many of them that could work with these borders and the other
fun characters. So much fun to create with - you'll feel like you've spent the
 day on the toboggan hill!
