Where I come from, deep in the countryside of Eastern Ontario all leisure
hours point to huntin', fishin' and other great redneck games!!
Many locals spend free enjoying these activities when
not fighting off mosquitos!!
People work hard & play hard!!
When choosing a card ( whether creating or purchasing ), people want a card that reflects the recipient. You're not going to give a golfing themed card to someone who has never spent a day on the green.
Up until recently, it's been difficult to find a stamp set and supplies that would reflect a great hunting or fishing themed card.
I have had a few deer, a bear or a moose but not really anything that gave the creative freedom to create something really great for this theme of card.
At one time I would have thought of these as great masculine cards, however men, woman, children, farmers, businessmen, housewives, realtors
and on and on... enjoy participating in the sport!
*** I am not a hunter per say, I'd rather feed the deer. My camera is the only
tool I use to capture wildlife. I do like to go for a nice relaxing fish!
However, I have 5 boys and many friends who do hunt and fish during the season and its going to be great to finally be able to give them a card they will love!
Now, I just want to say that Stampin' Up produced a lovely stamp set of fishing tackle this year ~ Gone Fishing. I have created many cards with it but was hiding a perfectly great fishing set as I didn't want to do Stampin' Up unjust.
Even though Gone Fishing was a great stamp set with coordinating dies, it just didn't have that fun feel that you are often looking for when
creating a card for someone.
Sometimes a company that we promote just doesn't have a particular theme
that we require, we have to extend our search (there is nothing wrong
with that, one company can't be expected to cover every theme).
There is no shame in trying out a stamp set that does suit a particular need at a particular time... so I did!
And I wanted to share the outcome...
The stamp sets used to create these cards were from Art Impressions.
Work and Play Collection - Ole Buck
Work and Play Collection - Reel Great Guys
Other supplies:
random background stencils, Stampin' Up Cardstock, Ink Pads & Wink of Stella.
Lets Go Fishing designer paper used for the envelope flap.
These 2 cards came about actually just testing the stamped image, but while stamping them and coloring to get a feel for how they turned out, there was no way I was just going to toss the work that went into the images.
I even mastered a camo effect on the pants ~ I think I did, anyway!
I'm super excited to create some "Reely" great cards with these stamp sets.
My family is going to love receiving them!
I hope you have enjoyed a peek at the cards and that you have been left with some creative inspiration!
