Today's 5 Minute Monday card tutorial has a bit of a puzzling focal point!
Seems odd to cut up a perfectly lovely stamped layer, yet it adds
a bit of interest to the card. Don't you think?
I used the Lighting the Way Stamp set to create this puzzling card.
More puzzling was trying to figure out what to work with for today's card. Usually I have a million ideas.
With this being the last day to order from the last years Annual Catalog and the New Annual Catalog set to release tomorrow,
I had to remove what is still in the new catalog and what is not from my shelves.
So they are looking slightly bare right now.
I never look forward to this transition. That "oh no, what will I show everyone" thought weighs heavy in my thought process as I peer at my empty shelves.
So today, I chose to work with 2 of my favorite stamp sets which luckily will be appearing in the New Annual catalog.
Obviously Lighting the Way stamp set was used for the first card, and the card below used the Oceanfront stamp set.
Stamp sets are not the only thing I am lacking during this transition, also designer series paper. I have very little to work with while waiting on a preorder from the New Catalog. Sad news, when it does come, I only ordered 1 pack.
I didn't see a lot of possibilities when it came to the new designer series papers that were offered.
You can have a look for yourself tomorrow!
The paper I used today was from the Tea Boutique Designer series paper pack which is of course no longer available.
This card layout works best with smaller images and sentiments, however I suppose you could do something large for a focal point... there are no rules, right?
So let's get on with the card measurements -
Orchid Oasis Cardstock - 4 1/4 x 11
Scored @ 5 1/2
Designer Series Paper - 4 x 5 1/4
Parakeet Party Cardstock - 3 1/4 x 4 1/2
Basic White Cardstock - 2 3/4 x 4
Instructions:
Cut & Score all card pieces.
On the Basic White layer stamp the desired images and sentiment. Remember to keep the sentiment small enough to fit on one half or the other, since you don't want to cut in the middle of the sentiment.
When finished stamping. Cut vertically down the middle of the layer at 1 3/8 inch.
Turn one section and cut at 3 inch.
Turn the other section in the opposite direction and cut at 3 inch.
Adhere dimensionals to the back of all of the cut sections and assemble with equal spacing between all the pieces onto the Parakeet Party Layer.
Add dimensionals to the back of the Parakeet Party layer.
Adhere the designer paper to the front of the card base.
Attach the Parakeet Party layer to the card front.
Add a few rhinestones or gems for some added interest.
For the card Inside:
Cut a strip of coordinating designer paper at 3/4 x 4 and attach to the bottom of a piece of Basic White cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4 .
Stamp desired image just above the strip of cardstock, as well as any added sentiments and attach to the card inside.
Decorate the flap of an envelope with coordinating designer paper for an added special touch.
*** Just a note:
Depending on your image sizes and sentiment size, you may need to adjust the measurements in which to cut the stamped layer. Keep that in mind as you create.
I hope today's card has left you with some creative inspiration!
